Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us. Written to be read once, in full, without a lawyer.

1.Who you are dealing with
episodemaker.ai is operated by EpisodeMaker AI. Throughout these terms, « we » means that operator and « you » means the person or company using the service.
Creating an account, or paying for a plan, means you accept these terms. If you are using the service for a company, you confirm you may bind it.
2.What the service does
EpisodeMaker AI turns a short written idea into a vertical episodic series: a script, a cast with reusable reference images, sets, a storyboard, rendered video shots, and an assembled episode.
Text and images are generated by third-party AI models we buy capacity from. Output is not deterministic. The same input can produce different results, and a result can be unusable. That is a property of the technology, not a defect of the service — which is why writing is unmetered and only rendering costs credits.
3.Accounts
You need an account with a working email address. You are responsible for what happens under it, so keep your credentials to yourself. Tell us through contact@episodemaker.ai if you believe someone else has access.
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum digital consent age where you live if that is higher. One person, one account: creating several accounts to collect the free credits more than once is a breach of these terms and we may close all of them.
4.Credits, and what they buy
Writing is free and unlimited on every plan — scripts, series bibles, characters, sets and storyboards. They cost us very little, so we do not meter them.
Credits are only spent when a shot is animated. One credit equals one second of finished 720p video on our entry-level engine; other resolutions and engines cost more or less, and the exact price is shown before you confirm each render. You always see the cost and approve it.
- A failed render is never charged. If the provider returns nothing usable, the credits go straight back to your balance.
- Credits do not roll over. Your balance returns to your plan's monthly allowance when the subscription renews. Anything left is not carried forward and is not refundable in cash.
- Credits have no monetary value, cannot be transferred between accounts and cannot be exchanged for money.
5.Plans, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are subscriptions in US dollars, billed monthly or annually in advance, and they renew automatically until cancelled. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
You can cancel at any time from your billing page, in one click. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep your plan and your credits until then, and you are not billed again.
If a payment fails, we retry over the following days. Persistent failure returns the account to the free plan. Your work is not deleted, but rendering stops.
We may change prices. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you by email before it applies to your next renewal.
6.Refunds
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have fourteen days to withdraw from a distance contract. Because the service is delivered immediately and credits can be spent at once, you expressly ask us to start performance right away and accept that the right of withdrawal is lost for the part already performed.
In practice we are more generous than that. Within fourteen days of your first payment, if you have not spent a single credit, we refund it in full — just ask. Beyond that, or once credits are spent, subscription payments are not refundable, since the underlying generation has already been bought and paid for on our side.
If something on our side genuinely failed — you were charged twice, credits vanished, a paid render never produced anything — that is not a refund question, it is a mistake, and we fix it. Write to us.
7.What you own
You own what you write and, as far as we are able to grant it, what you generate. We claim no ownership over your ideas, scripts, characters or videos, and we assign to you whatever rights we hold in the output.
An honest limit: in several countries, purely AI-generated material may not attract copyright at all, and no contract can create a right that the law does not grant. We cannot promise you exclusivity over an output, nor that a similar one will not be produced for someone else.
Commercial use — publishing, monetising, advertising — is included on the Creator plan and above. On the free and Starter plans, output is for personal and evaluation use.
We do not use your scripts or your videos to train models. We may display work you have explicitly agreed to share, and nothing else.
8.What you may not make
The service generates convincing people and voices, so this section is not boilerplate. You may not use it to create:
- any sexual content involving minors, or anything that sexualises a person who appears to be a minor;
- a recognisable real person without their written consent — their face, their voice, or a likeness close enough to be mistaken for them;
- material presented as a real event, statement or recording when it is not, where it could deceive;
- harassment, threats, or content that incites violence or hatred against a group;
- anything unlawful where you are, or that infringes someone else's rights.
You may not resell raw model access, resell credits, or drive the service through automated means outside the interface we provide.
Our providers apply their own safety filters, which may refuse a render for reasons we do not control and cannot always explain. A refusal costs you nothing.
Breaching this section can lead to a suspended or closed account without refund. We act on what we are made aware of; we do not pre-screen everything that is generated.
9.How long your files are kept
Retention depends on your plan and is shown on the pricing page. Finished episodes are kept for a long time — they represent credits you have paid for. Drafts and intermediate renders are cleared much sooner.
Download what matters to you. If your account is closed, or a subscription ends, we keep your files for ninety days and then delete them. Storage is not a backup service.
10.Availability and liability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. It depends on third-party model providers whose availability, pricing and behaviour we do not control. A model can be withdrawn or replaced; we will keep an equivalent option in the catalogue when that happens.
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability towards you is limited to what you paid us over the twelve months before the event. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are untouched by this section.
11.Ending it
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used to defraud us, or that endangers the service — with notice whenever circumstances allow.
If we close your account for a reason other than a breach, we refund the unused part of your current period.
12.Changes, and which law applies
We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email at least thirty days before they take effect, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept them. If you would rather not, cancel before the date and we refund the unused part of your period.
These terms are governed by the law of the country where we are established. If you are a consumer, this does not take anything away from you: you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country of residence, and you may bring proceedings before its courts. Consumers in the EU may also use the European online dispute resolution platform.
Questions about any of this are welcome — see contact@episodemaker.ai. We would rather explain a clause than argue about it later.
